AcquireTM Learning Management System

cquireTM is a premier, comprehensive learning management system designed specifically for the changing needs of a distance education school.

See our Acquire Learning PDF for more information.

More information is available in our case study PDF and references are available in our portfolio.

New Features for the 2008-09 school year:

  • Tickles feature where staff can set alerts to follow-up with a student at a particular time.
  • Enhanced proctoring security features.
  • More to come.

New Features for the 2007-08 school year:
  • Improved e-mail sorting, searching, and management.
  • Multi-counselor system allows students to be assigned to a counselor automatically by zip code. Admission forms and contact info shows specific to that student's counselor
  • User interface enhancements for faster assignment grading.

New Features for the 2006-07 school year:
  • The improved course section model better supports multiple teachers teaching the same course.
  • Two factor login system for faculty and staff. This proprietary model designed exclusively for Acquire makes it faster for staff to log in, and eliminates the concern of student's gaining access to an instructor's login. Only specific physical computers or USB drives are authorized for a specific instructor to use. A staff member can authorize any number of computers or USB drives, and administrative staff can respond to special cases by temporarily allowing a specific teacher access from any computer.
  • Expanded student profile allows students to upload a picture and post a bio about themselves. Picture and bio are only viewable by classmates in the same course section.

New Features for the 2005-06 school year:
  • Integration with MSN, Yahoo, and AOL messengers allows teachers to know if a student is currently online and provides one-click access to start a chat.
  • Integrated "Teacher's Desk" online collaboration which allows the teacher to hold a live meeting with any number of students and share applications or a whiteboard, while discussing over 2 way audio.
  • Weekly status report e-mails for parents and internal e-mail accounts for parents.

New Features for the 2004-05 school year:
  • Integrated staff and student e-mail. Streamlined using a scripting technique later known as AJAX and popularized by Google's gmail.
  • Many other features, see provided PDF.

Term of the Moment

ASP:
Active Server Pages. Released in late 1996, ASP integrates Microsoft’s Visual Basic programming language for use in building dynamic websites. ASP is commonly used because it comes pre-installed with any Microsoft Windows server. ASP also stands for Application Service Provider which is a business offering remote access to an application for a fee.
